the challenge

You choose to run 25/50/75/100/125/150/175 or 200 miles plus during the month of February. As it's Valentine's month, this challenge is based on a route that starts in Verona, the setting for the romantic story of Romeo and Juliet. The route heads out through Venice, Padua and Udine, Italian ciities famed for their classical architecture.

Again, we have awesome medals, certificates and extra goodies for your winners packs. Once you have completed the distance you wish to achieve, you simply send us a .jpeg to verification@fitwins, as explained here.

This month we are supporting CRY and will pledge £1 from each standard challenge entry to CRY. £7 from all charity top-up entries will go directly to CRY.  CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by young sudden cardiac death. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. Take on the challenge, receive an awesome medal and more, and support the amazing work of Cardiac Risk in the Young. You can learn more about this amazing charity here.

Virtual challenges? What are they? We select a distance and link to a global location - a virtual route. We select different challenges each month and design a bespoke, limited edition medal. All medals will reflect our challenge selection, are unique, and will be a great addition to your medal collection. Our challenges.

Fun fact: The Battle of Marathon involved a runner called Pheidippides running from Marathon to Athens to deliver news of a Greek victory over an invading Persian army. Lots of people run marathons in places all over the world and dedicate themselves to running a marathon (which is based on the distance from Marathon to Athens). You don't need to be in Marathon, Greece to run one.

Similarly, for our challenges, whether you complete the distance on the treadmill, use your local running route, or walk the distance with friends...we don't mind as long as you cover your distance. We'll send you your awesome 'Healthy Hearts' medal when you've done it. It's awesome...just like you!

Supporting CRY

FITWINS will donate £1 from all standard challenge entries at £14 to CRY. £7 from all optional charity top-up entries at £20 will go directly to CRY. If you would like to raise money for CRY by doing the challenge and using a personal fundraising page that's fantastic! CRY gets more money from donations made via Virgin Moneygiving than through Justgiving, but of course using any fundraising page, Justgiving or Virgin Moneygiving is great for the charity. We've included a guide on how to do this for a Virgin Moneygiving page below, including example text, but of course how you do this is up to you.

image5

Create a Virgin Moneygiving Account

Once you've created your account, choose create a personal fundraising page by choosing to take on a personal challenge . When asked what are you doing. Type 'FITWINS February CRY Challenge', then 1 February 2020 for when are you doing it.

Choosing CRY

Share and tell the world about the great thing your doing

You can add an optional story here. If you need help you can copy and edit this text. I am doing the FITWINS February St Valentine Challenge for Cardiac Risk in the Young and plan to cover a distance of 25/50/75/100/125/150/175/200 miles in February to raise funds to support the amazing work that they do. CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by young sudden cardiac death. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. Every donation, of any amount, will support the CRY charity. Thank you.
